The Flemish Heritage Institute (VIOE), in collaboration with the Flemish Land Agency (VLM) and the Universities of Leuven and Ghent are pleased to invite you to the Archaeology of Erosion/the Erosion of Archaeology conference in Brussels, from 28-30^th April 2008.

The conference aims to bring together expertise concerning methodological developments and current 'best practices' in the study and management of erosion- and sedimentation processes in relation to the archaeological record. More specifically the focus will be on six themes: geoarchaeological approaches in identifying human induced (pre-)historic erosion/sedimentation processes; evaluation and monitoring of erosion/sedimentation processes on archaeological sites; methodological developments (erosion/sedimentation modelling; remote sensing; experimental research, ...); the management of archaeological/geological large profiles; the management of earthen monuments; and policy concerning erosion management and archaeological sites (European directives, national schemes, ...).

Van 28 april tot en met 30 april organiseert het Vlaams Instituut voor het Onroerend Erfgoed, in samenwerking met de Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, de Universiteit Gent en de Vlaamse Landmaatschappij het congres The Archaeology of Erosion, The Erosion of Archaeology.

Het congres brengt nationale en internationale expertise samen rond de problematiek van erosie- en sedimentatieprocessen, en dit in verband met de interpretatie, de bewaring en het beheer van het archeologisch erfgoed.
